HEY WE DO NOT PROMOTE ILLEGAL SOFTWARE ON HERE!!! Anything otherwise is just more of the same BS. If it takes say, three hours of programing to emulate a dongle, that three hours should be worth the same money whether the dongle unlocks $500 software or $15000 software. Anyone have a recommendation for where to source a dongle emulator? Searching the web, it seems that each company offering this service needs to know what your software is worth before they will quote a price, so it appears they are involved in exactly the same shake-down. Up until this point I have assumed that if the dongle should die, MC would stand behind their product and replace it. I will point out that we're not a job shop and progaming is only one of the things I do I tend to do several intensive weeks of programing at one point of the product design / tooling build / production start-up cycle, then won't touch MC again for a couple months.

I like v9, it does all I need it to do, and after following the upgrade route from v6, through v7 and v8 with their attendant learning curves, I decided that continuous change was a grand waste of time.

It would seem that if a dongle fails, and the software vendor refuses to replace it, a call to your lawyer and/or the attorney general is in order.Interestingly, I just received an e-mail from my MasterCAM vendor telling me that my MCv9 will no longer be "updateable" and I need to update to X5 to "protect my investment."
